The RuMBa Foundation's name is derived using the last names of the blended family members, Rudy, Molina, and Battiste. It calls to mind the lighthearted, joyful dance of the same name.
The RuMBa Foundation (RuMBa) of Long Beach is a private foundation whose mission is to expand access to the arts for children grades K-12 in the Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD). The foundation awards grants directly to schools.
Our goal is to help students access the rich and vibrant community of art and artists in Long Beach. One of the RuMBa Foundation's unique offerings is to cover transportation to art experiences off of the school campuses. This may range from a trip to a live performance, museum, clay studio, industrial arts or artist's studio to a trip to art departments of local colleges and universities, especially LBCC and CSULB. All off-campus sites and experiences are pre-approved by LBUSD. Additionally, The RuMBa Foundation provides grants to schools to bring in artists and art supplies.
Grants also support individual classroom art experiences and grade-specific or school-wide assemblies. Additionally, grants may be awarded to cover related costs such as ticket fees, resource materials, and supplies.
